A get-together of four friends turned into tragedy when one of them fell from the fourth floor of a building in DN Nagar on Thursday night. A society member allegedly told the police that the boy fell when the friends were moving from one wing to the other.
On Thursday at around 9.15pm the police control room received a call from residents of Ashtavinayak Society at DN Nagar, saying a boy had fallen from the fourth floor and died. DN Nagar police found that Akash Salunkhe, a resident of Ashtavinayak building's B wing, had rushed to a security guard, saying his friend, Tushar Wavhal alias Sahil, had fallen into the duct area. The security guard then informed society members.
Sahil, 20, was a resident of Eversweet Building in Versova, and had come to Ashtavinayak Society with his friend Maaz Naumani, 20, a resident of Amboli, Jogeshwari, and another friend. Four of them, including Salunkhe, went to the podium area on the fourth floor, which is a restricted area for residents. Pravin Bangera, a resident of Ashtavinayak Society said while moving from one wing to another wing, Sahil fell and died. Another society member claimed that the boys had been visiting the restricted area for 3-4 days.
One of his friends said Sahil was very talented and had also sung songs for ad agencies. He was a student of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology. He lived with his parents and elder brother. On Friday after his last paper he was supposed to play in a cricket match.
Police has registered an Accidental Death Report. Zone IX DCP Paramjit Dahiya said, "We have been inquiring with the three friends to ascertain their motive of going to the restricted area and how this incident occurred." He added that the post-mortem report was pending.
