Malwani cops say while they did not find a suicide note, they believe the woman took the drastic step as she was unable to cope with her husband’s death; they had been married for six months
Not all love stories have a happily ever after. In a tragic incident, a 24-year-old housewife allegedly committed suicide just an hour after her husband breathed his last at a local civic hospital on Tuesday afternoon in Malwani. The couple had tied the knot just six months ago. Theirs was a love marriage.

An officer from the Malwani police station said Nasrin Jahan Sheikh committed suicide at her mother's residence by hanging from the ceiling using a nylon rope. He said prima facie investigation indicates that she took the drastic step after her husband Javed (26) lost the battle against blood cancer, which was detected just two months after their marriage.
The disease was discovered after Javed was asked to undertake a blood test after he complained of severe stomachache and failing health. Unfortunately, the cancer was in its stage IV (most advanced). Nasrin informed her mother and two brothers about Javed's demise.
While they left for Nasrin's residence in Rathodi village, she left for her mother's place in Bhramveshvar Galli near Malwani Church, without informing them. It was when the neighbours started asking about Nasrin to offer their condolences, her mother asked her brothers - Akbar and Akhtar - to find her.

When all their attempts to contact Nasrin on her cellphone failed, the brothers decided to visit their residence in Bhramveshvar Galli, hoping to find her there. After reaching home, they discovered that the door was locked from inside. This assured them that Nasrin was inside.
But when all their attempts to get her to open the door failed, they broke one of the windows to peep in. They were shocked to see Nasrin hanging from the ceiling. After entering the house, the brothers rushed Nasrin to Bharatratna Babasaheb Ambedkar Municipal General Hospital (Shatabdi Hospital) with the help of neighbours.
She was declared dead on arrival. It was one of the brothers who informed Malwani police about her suicide. Cops have filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in this case and are investigating it further. While Javed was buried at the Malwani Muslim Kabristan on Tuesday, Nasrin will be buried today at the same cemetery.
