On the seventh simultaneous morning, following the massive fire breakout at the dumping ground, Mumbai continued to be covered with thick toxic smoke, affecting the Air Quality Index (AQI) and leaving residents gasping for breath.

The fire officials confirmed that around seven fire engines and seven water tankers have been pressed into service to douse the fire spreading due to air.

System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) index of the AQI of the city stood very poor at 306. At the same time, the AQI of Chembur area, closest to the dumping ground has rang warning balls for the residents with a reading of 367, which can affect even healthy residents.

While medical experts have already warned the residents to use masks and ventilate their surroundings to escape the smoke, many of the residents have taken to social media, uploading pictures of their smoke-covered surroundings early in the morning.
