College students made victim sit inside a taxi; while two of them slapped and punched him, the third recorded a video on his mobile; victim told his parents after he saw the clip on WhatsApp
A 19-year-old college student was abducted and beaten up by three youths from his college because he had talked to the girlfriend of one of the assailants.
The trio took the teen around in two taxis one after the other, beat him up during the drive, and recorded it all on a cell phone camera. It was only when the victim himself received the video on WhatsApp that he decided to tell his parents, who then took him to the Amboli police to register a case.
All four are B Com students from MMK College in Bandra (West). According to the police, on November 15, Haris Faizullah Khan (19), Adam Ali Sehlot (21) and Riyaz Fukran Ansari (20) called up the victim and asked him to come near Raheja Classic building in Oshiwara, Andheri (West).
As per officials, they were annoyed after they got to know that the teen had spoken to Khan's girlfriend; Khan is the son of a retired IAS officer. As the unsuspecting victim arrived, the trio told him to sit in a taxi. After he took his place in between Khan and Sehlot, the two started slapping and punching him in the stomach, while Ansari sat beside the taxi driver and recorded it all on his cell phone.
The three made the victim apologise for what he had done and asked him to repeat that he wouldn't talk to Khan's girlfriend ever again. Ramesh Khatkare, senior inspector at Amboli police station, said the trio took the cab till Khira Nagar, Santacruz, and then made him sit in another cab and continued the assault.
They dropped him off at Carter Road in Bandra, threatening to kill him if he ever tried to talk to the girl again. The victim then made his way home and didn't speak of the incident at all. It was only on Sunday, when he received a video on WhatsApp showing the trio thrashing him, that he decided to confide in his parents.
The family approached the Amboli police the same evening and registered a case against the three. The accused were arrested yesterday and booked under sections 363 (kidnapping), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and others of the Indian Penal Code. The cops are also trying to trace the drivers of the two taxis in which the beating took place.
The trio has confessed to having beaten up the victim because he was "getting close to a friend of ours in college." "We are going to call the girl to the police station to record her statement and to find out whether she was being harassed by the victim," said a police officer from Amboli police station.
