In the past one week, there have been three incidents of commuters losing their lives after falling from trains on Mumbai's suburban railway lines.

The latest one was on Tuesday night, when a 45-year-old, Nitin Aaba Chavan, died after falling from a local train. The incident took place between Dombivli and Kopar station at around 9 pm, after he had boarded a train to go to his place of work in Churchgate.
According to Dombivli railway police, he fell between pole numbers 47/2 and 47/3 between Dombivli and Kopar stations towards the CST end. However, the reason behind Chavan's fall was
not clear.
"The deceased had died on the spot. He was heading towards CST for work when the incident took place. The reason behind Chavan's fall is still not clear," said Datta Pabale, senior police inspector, Dombivli railway police station.
The victim's body was sent to Rukmini Bai civic hospital in Kalyan at 11.30 pm and the post mortem was conducted the next morning. Hospital authorities have mentioned cause of death as neuro haemorrhage shock due to head injury and polytrauma.
Chavan worked as a security guard for a private firm in Churchgate and was associated with Maurya Security Services. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
"He used to work in night shifts and had been living in Kopar for 20 years. There was no dispute or problem within the family and this incident has come as a big shock to us. We are not aware of how Nitin fell from the train," said Veena Hatkamkar, a relative.
