Already distraught by the passing of her husband a month ago, a 70-year-old woman in Goregaon (East) had no idea that there was yet more grief in store for her.
Kalavatidevi Amarnath Yadav was beaten up by her family members and then thrown out of her home
For, her own son, grandson and his wife hit her with a hammer and fractured her hand on Tuesday afternoon, as they tried to force her to transfer the ownership of their Goregaon residence to them.
When that didn't work, they threw her out of her own home. The house, situated in Bajrang Nagar at Walbhat road, had been left to the septuagenarian by her husband after his death.
Of the victim, Kalavatidevi Amarnath Yadav's four sons, only one Fulchand was living in her home, along with his son (Sahuchand) and daughter-in-law (Pramiladevi).
According to the police, Kalavatidevi's husband was a farmer, and had bequeathed the house to her after his death last month. Angered by this, her family members attacked her with a hammer.
After they threw her out of the house, she lodged a complaint at the Vanrai police station. She was taken to the hospital, where her fractured hand was treated. The police have arrested all three accused in the case.
