Five years after mid-day’s crime investigations editor Jyotirmoy Dey was gunned down by henchmen of underworld don Chhota Rajan, a square in Powai’s Hiranandani Gardens will be named in his honour
Mumbai Press Club, local residents and Hiranandani Builders, in association with the BMC will install a plague in honour of the veteran journalist. The function will be held at 11.30 am on July 13.
"Mayor Snehal Ambekar will unveil a plaque in honour of our dear colleague J Dey," said Mumbai Press Club chief Gurbir Singh.

In the murder case, Mumbai Police have charge sheeted Chhota Rajan who was deported last year, and his aide Nayan Singh Bisht (absconding), Rohit Thangappan Joseph alias Satish Kalya, Abhijeet Shinde, Arun Dake, Sachin Gaikwad, Anil Waghmode, Nilesh Shendge, Mangesh Agawane, Vinod Asrani (he died of kidney failure in 2015), Paulson Joseph and Deepak Sisodia under MCOCA in 2011.

The CBI has started its probe in the Dey murder and found clinching evidence against the don, who has pleaded innocence in the case. The CBI is likely to file a supplementary charge sheet against him.
