A 33-year-old women lost her life and 49-year-old man suffered minor injuries after a speeding truck knocked down the bike they were riding on near Vashi goan on the Sion-Panvel highway on Tuesday
A 33-year-old women lost her life and 49-year-old man suffered minor injuries after they were knocked down by a speeding truck near Vashi goan on the Sion-Panvel highway on Tuesday.
The incident took place at around 5.45 am early in the morning while the duo were on their way towards Vashi on a bike. The deceased has been identified as Pranita Sachin Patil and the injured as Subhash Krishna Pandhare (49).
According to officials at the Vashi police station, Subhash has a idol-making business and Pranita, who was a resident of Sewri, used to work in his workshop. .
Pranita was rushed to Navi Mumbai municipal hospital in Vashi where she was declared dead on arrival. Meanwhile, Subhash has been admitted in Vashi's Sterling Wockhardt hospital.
The driver of the truck has been taken into custody by the Vashi Polcie and booked under section 304 (A), 279, 337, 338 of the Indian penal code and under section 184 and 134 of the Motor vehicle act.
