Having been completed in less than six months, the 580-metre-long bridge was thrown open to traffic at noon. Both Fadnavis and MMRDA chief UPS Madan said the arm was completed in "record time."

The southern arm of the bridge was opened in June last year, after having been under construction for seven months. Fadnavis also performed the bhoomi pujan for the connector between Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) and Chunabhatti on the Eastern Express Highway (EEH).
Once completed, the Rs 200-crore elevated road will help motorists from Eastern suburbs reach BKC faster. Madan said they hoped to complete the connector in less than three years.
