Mumbai: Missing man booked for killing 5-year-old daughter

The Wadala police have registered a murder case against the 35-year-old man who killed his 5-year-old daughter. The Wadala police have also transferred the case to Nhava-Sheva police station, as the body of the girl was found near the Nhava-Sheva creek last Sunday, July 24. The police and his family are yet to trace Ashad Irshad Khan, who is suspected to have committed suicide.

Ashad Irshad Khan went missing with Minal on July 21

The Wadala police registered the case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. "Based on the complaint given by the victim's mother Shaziya, we have registered a murder case against her husband, Khan, for killing his daughter. It was transferred to Nhava-Sheva police who are further investigating the murder case. The accused is still missing," said Ashok Dudhe, Deputy Commissioner of Police, and Public Relations Officer, Mumbai Police.

On July 25, mid-day reported about the duo that went missing from Wadala on July 21. Khan was a medical representative with a private firm in Mumbai. On the evening of July 21, he texted Shaziya that he had killed their daughter Minal and he was going to commit suicide. He also sent a suicide note on WhatsApp to all his contacts of more than 300 people, informing them that he and his daughter were committing suicide because of harassment from his wife.

A missing complaint was registered July 21 with the Wadala police station. Police traced his mobile to Khandala and later to the Vashi old bridge, where they found his motorcycle, along with his helmet and key.
