Police are on the hunt for a man who stabbed his cousin and her father in Mumbra yesterday, after they rejected his marriage proposal recently. The accused has been identified as Jaahir Khan (22) from Nashik, who runs a garment business.
He is accused of stabbing his 16-year-old cousin, Sabrina and her father, Aarif, residents of Amrut Nagar, Mumbra. Last week, when Sabrina's family visited Jaahir's family in Nashik, Jaahir proposed marriage to her. When her father rejected the proposal, Jaahir was enraged.

Yesterday, around 1.30 pm, Sabrina was home with her father, and younger sister and brother, while her mother was out at the market. Jaahir first called Sabrina's family to check whether they were there. A little later, when the doorbell rang and Sabrina went to open it, she found Jaahir waiting there with a knife.
He brutally stabbed her in the abdomen multiple times. When her father heard the commotion from his bedroom, he went to the door, at which point Jaahir stabbed him as well. Sabrina's brother was in the bathroom during the incident, but her sister, who was in the kitchen, had come out and witnessed all that took place, and is currently the prime witness in the case.
Senior inspector Srinivas Munde of Mumbra police station said, "Sabrina and her father were admitted to Jupiter Hospital, where Sabrina was declared dead. Her father had several injuries and is being treated, but for now, he is stable. We are looking for the accused and have also contacted his family in Nashik for details.
Our team will visit them as well. All I can say is that the accused will be nabbed very soon." A complaint has been registered at Mumbra police station under sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
