According to the police, the complainant was in a relationship with the accused, Bharat Purohit, for several years before they separated recently. Purohit owns on mobile shop in Borivli (west).
The couple met in 2008, when the woman was studying at a college in Kandivli. In her complaint, the woman said that while they were in a relationship, they were also sexually intimate, but she never told her parents about it.
However, last October, after things went awry between the two, the complainant decided to break up with Purohit. But, the accused continued to harass her, and on April 26, forwarded her some of their private photographs on WhatsApp. He further threatened to leak the photos on social media, when she refused to get intimate with him. The messages continued for several days, until the woman finally approached the police on Thursday.
