A cop from the Antop Hill police station said, on condition of anonymity, "On Friday evening, the woman approached the Wadala TT police station and a cop brought her here. She started crying and didn't say what happened. Later, she went out and made a few calls and then left. After an hour, she returned with her husband and registered a complaint.
According to the victim's statement, Abdul came to her place at around 2 pm and tried to rape her at knifepoint in front of her daughter. When the woman started shouting, he fled. The police also said Abdul had a completely different account of the incident. He told cops that from 2007 to 2012, the woman resided at Sangam Nagar, Wadala TT, the same area where he stayed. She shifted to Antop Hill two years ago. He added that she would often frequent his shop and, later, they had a torrid affair. Abdul said that on Friday afternoon, the victim had called him to her residence and after consensual sex, she asked him for money. When he refused to pay, she allegedly threatened him that she would go to the police.
Abdul was presented at the local magistrate court in Kurla on Saturday. He has been booked under Section 376 (punishment for rape), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault/ wrongful restraint) and 506 (2) (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
