A resident doctor who allegedly attempted suicide at his hostel on Saturday is normal and under observation.

Sources claim that he wanted to be transferred to JJ hospital, but was shifted to GT hospital and was unhappy with this, and hence decided to take the extreme step.
Dr TP Lahane, Dean of JJ Hospital denied the claims about the posting saying that it is given by the head of department and not by the dean. "He was posted there by his post graduate teacher, and didn't want to work there. He had tried to commit suicide. He is normal and has been kept in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) for observation," added Lahane.
On Saturday, Dr Nandre, an in-service second-year postgraduate student at Grant Medical College, had sent a text message to his seniors hinting that he was attempting suicide since his wish for a transfer hadn't been granted. Dr Lahane said that the doctor who attempted suicide had told the doctors that he had injected himself with and potassium chloride. Top bosses had said the suicide attempt was a tactic to seek transfer to JJ Hospital.
