"The building does not have a fire fighting system and hence we needed an additional water supply pipeline from the building itself. But, there was none available. We had to arrange for more water from elsewhere and finally managed to douse the fire," said Abhay Kale, deputy fire officer.
Fire officials later found that there was an area of around 25 feet that had been encroached inside the premises and it was there that the fire had broken out. This space was covered in plastic and bamboo, which had made it difficult for fire officials to enter the premises.
