According to police, there is an office of a medical insurance firm on the floor where the fire occurred.

The entire building has been evacuated, they said.

Meanwhile, a Defence spokesperson said the fire was expeditiously reported by the Naval Dockyard security personnel. "One of the Naval Dockyard fire-fighting team with 7-8 personnel and a thermal imaging camera entered the building to help contain the fire," he said.

The Dockyard team provided assistance in cutting of grills for providing access to firemen and refilling water for fire-fighting, he said.

"From our personnel on ground it is learnt that there was one person initially stranded on the rooftop of the building. He was rescued by the fire brigade," the spokesperson said
