Mumbai: Excise superintendent held for bribe owns 6 flats

He also owns a petrol pump; the inspector arrested with him owns a hotel in Thane’s posh Ghodbunder Road


The Anti-Corruption Bureau, which had arrested a superintendent and a police inspector of state excise, Thane division, on Wednesday while taking a bribe of Rs 18 lakh, has found that the SP owns six flats and a petrol pump, while the inspector owns a flat in Powai and a hotel in Thane's posh Ghodbunder Road.

The ACB arrested Superintendent Manohar Anchule and police inspector Ramesh Dhanshetty, for demanding the money from the PSI for not taking any departmental action against him.

The ACB found the following assets during the search of the duo's properties:

>> Rs 48,800 cash from his office
>> Foreign brand liquor
>> Rs 8 lakh cash and 389 grams gold
>> A flat in Hiranandani Meadows, Thane
>> A flat in Andheri
>> A flat in Oshiwara
>> Two flats in Navi Mumbai
>> A flat in Pune
>> A petrol pump in Osmanabad
>> Rs 15 lakh in bank accounts

>> A flat in Hiranandani Meadows
>> A lodging and boarding at Ghodbunder Road, Thane
>> 12 acres land in Osmanabad
