Officials claimed this achievement was possible due to rigorous patrolling, launch of various awareness campaigns, stringent implementation of several drives to keep miscreants at bay and cooperation from the commuters.

Speaking to mid-day, a senior GRP officer said, "We identified locations where presence of anti-social elements was in abundance and deployed extra staff to keep their activities in check. Help was sought from commuters, who became our eyes and ears."

Another officer claimed that use of social networking apps such as Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp help them reach out to the maximum number of commuters and assist them whenever needed.

"Besides, we asked our staff to be people-friendly and patrol in civil clothes to ensure a higher crime detection rate," the officer added.
