It is learnt that the sub-inspector, posted with Cuffe Parade police station, had been angry about the negative remark by the senior police official
A police sub-inspector posted at Cuffe Parade police station has been missing for the last three days.
PSI Sanjay Chavan left his home at the Nagpada police quarters on Sunday and has been missing since then.
Police sources said Sanjay Vitthal Chavan, the sub-inspector, had been given a negative progress remark by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dr Ravindra Shisve, on Saturday.
A missing person complaint has been registered with the Nagpada police station as Chavan resided at the Nagpada police quarters. Chavan left his residence on Sunday evening for the night shift, but did not report to the Cuffe Parade police station. He did not go home on Monday morning either.
Cell phone switched off
When a police officer posted at Cuffe Parade police station called his wife to enquire about Chavan, as his cell phone was switched off, she told him that he had left for work.
It is learnt that the sub-inspector could have gone missing as Shisve's negative remark on his progress sheet had angered him.
When asked whether Chavan could have gone missing because of the remark, Shisve said, "It's not a fact, please don't speculate. Please help the police if you know about the PSI's location."
When contacted, Commissioner of Mumbai Police, Rakesh Maria said it was too early to talk about it. "Our priority is to find him and then we can investigate the other part," he said.
