According to social activist Jyoti Raut, who Geeta More's neighbours alerted, the maid was taken into a room where four policemen and a lady cop beat her. Raut alleges that the complainant ended up finding his lost valuables in a cupboard at home.

On August 13, Sandeep Malhotra lodged an FIR with the Chunabhatti police after jewellery worth Rs 2.5 lakh went missing from his flat in Luvkush Society. The police picked up More for questioning.

"They beat me for so long, I can barely move. A policeman hit me with a belt on my toe, while another kicked me. I fell unconscious. When I came to my senses, they threatened to arrest me in the case if I told anyone about the incident," said More, who was taken to Sion hospital for treatment.

"We have lodged a complaint at the police station and will send a copy of the complaint to the DCP's office," said Raut. More lodged a complaint against the policemen yesterday. Senior police inspector Dattatray Tukaram Naykodi said, "Necessary action will be taken against the culprit."
