According to the Wadala Truck Terminal police, on Monday evening, the survivor, who is in Std I, was playing outside his Wadala residence, when the accused approached him and scolded him for being mischievous. He then covered the minor's mouth and took him away on the pretext of punishing him.

"The victim is still traumatised because of the incident. He has not been able to give appropriate leads in the case. Sometimes he says that he was taken inside a truck and abused and sometimes he says he was taken to a room. We are giving him some time to recuperate so that he can give the exact details of the incident," said an officer from Wadala TT police station.

Cops referred the victim to Sion Hospital for medical tests, following which it was confirmed that he was sexually abused. Based on the description given by the survivor, a sketch drawn by police sketch artist Nitin Yadav has been circulated in the police jurisdiction of Wadala and its adjoining areas to hunt down the accused.

Found by a taxi driver
Police said that the boy was found near the Freeway. A taxi driver, Raju Shaikh, stopped to find out what the matter was on seeing the boy alone around 6.50 am. The survivor told Shaikh about the incident and the driver then took him to the Wadala TT police station, where an FIR was registered.

The officers added, "Mumbaikars should learn from this taxi driver. Leaving his work aside, he stopped and listened to the boy because of which we were able to help him. He ensured that the boy reached the right place and only then he left. Life in Mumbai is so busy that no one is bothered about the sufferings of people walking next to them."

Confirming the incident, senior police inspector Suhas Garud of Wadala Truck Terminal police station said, "A team is searching for the accused. We hope to crack the case soon."

The Wadala TT police have booked the accused under section 377 (unnatural sex) of IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
