The male accused, identified as Umang Shah, was arrested from his residence at Sarvodaya Nagar in Mulund, in the wee hours of Thursday.

An officer from Mulund police station said, "We got the address on the basis of the vehicle registration number obtained by the traffic police. A team was sent to Shah's residence at Sarvodaya Nagar, but he wasn't present. Another team was sent in the night and he was arrested."
Shah (22) is an MBA student. Initially he refused to name the woman who was accompanying him when they thrashed traffic constable Sampat Andhale.
"He asked us to frame all the charges against him, and leave his female friend out of it. But during investigations, the accused was forced to reveal the name and address of his accomplice," an officer added. The female accused, identified as Lavina Ramesh Amisar (22), was arrested later on Thursday.
She is pursuing a career in fashion design. Senior Police Inspector Rajaram Vanmane from Mulund police station said, "Since the arrest, Shah has been very apologetic about assaulting the constable. He was produced in court along with the female accused."
The duo were booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act. They were later let off on bail.
