The state government and BMC approached the High Court seeking permission to allow parking at Shivaji Park during the four days of Ganpati Visarjan.

Considering the large number of Ganesh idols immersed at Dadar Chowpatty, the trucks need space for parking the state government pleader Geeta Shastri told the bench of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Amjad Sayed.

However, the application was opposed by Wecom Trust that is formed by the residents of Shivaji Park.

The court was upset with the state over not forming a committee to resolve the issue.

"We will decide on your application by tomorrow," said Justice Abhay Oka.
