The vehicle costs around Rs 8 crore. "We got a vehicle registration fee of 20 per cent on this vehicle as per rules," said an RTO official on condition of anonymity. Sources said that the reason behind the high cost is not just the make of the vehicle, but also the alterations made, both in the exteriors and interiors.

This BMW is a complete bullet-proof vehicle with armour on the chassis and windows. These additions have been made apparently due to RIL head Mukesh Ambani's security concerns. The authorities refused to divulge any more information due to security reasons. Officials from Reliance Industries also confirmed that the vehicle was registered at the RTO.
