Maanayata has scoffed atu00a0news about her taking off for the Bahamas after a fight with husband Sanjay Dutt over the polls.

Setting the score straight in an exclusive conversation with MiD DAY from London yesterday, Maanayata said that her only priority in life at the moment was to have a baby.
Maanayata unplugged...

Biological clock is ticking

It is wrong to say that Sanju told me not to contest. He wanted me to contest, but I turned it down because today I want to become a mother and start our own family. Our biological clocks are ticking. Right now my priority is to have babies, not attend the Parliament.

There's no age barrier to becoming a politician, but there's one to becoming a mother. Today that's our priority both Sanju and I want to have babies and start a family.

A wife first

Sanju's never forced me to do anything against my wish. I should do something that excites me. Right now, let me handle the politics around Sanju and then I can think of national politics.

In any case, I don't want to get into politics right now. I am too young to handle the responsibility. I can't shuttle between my constituency and my home with Sanju in Mumbai.

I have just been married for a year. Let me be a wife to Sanju first. I love the fact that today if he's home he asks for me andu00a0 I can talk to him about his day. I want to be with him all the time, looking after him. If he's happy, I am happy. I can't sail in two boats at the same time and I would be doing that if I joined politics.

The holiday

It was Sanju's idea that I go for my annual holiday to the Bahamas and London with my family and friends, as he would be busy shuttling from one place to another.

I went to the Bahamas with my brother, as he wanted to look at some properties there. I am in London now, as my family has a textile business here. Since the economy is in recession, I wanted to double check all the work.
It's been fun holidaying. I'll be back in a couple of days.

On the election seat

I suggested Nafisa Ali's name. She's a good choice, as she's an educated Muslim like me and I can relate to her.
I am a very sensitive person and felt awful after reading the stories about Sanju and my supposed fight. What hurts Sanju hurts me.
