A mother and her two children were run over by a local train, while trying to cross the tracks near Kalwa station on Sunday evening. The Thane Railway Police have filed an accidental death report (ADR) in the case.
The deceased have been identified as Manda Jayendra Patil, 33, Srushti, 11 and Daksh, 6. Patil was a resident of Padlegaon, Kalwa.

According to relatives, Patil had left home to visit the doctor. "She was going from the west side of Kalwa to the east," said a Thane GRP official. "When she reached Kalwa station, she didn't take the footover bridge and instead tried to cross the tracks. The trio didn't notice the approaching train and was run over near the station," added the officer.
Patil and her kids were immediately rushed to Civil Hospital, Thane, but were declared dead on arrival.
