What appeared as a regular mock drill by Mumbai police at Bandra's KFC outlet led to a panicky situation after reports of a blast near KFC restaurant in Pakistan aired on TV channels.
More than 150 police personnel were positioned at various spots near KFC. The entire lane of linking road was closed leading to more chaos.
A similar mock drill was conducted yesterday at Globus Mall, Bandra.
"We are testing our preparations in the event of a terror attack, the city police have been conducting mock drill at various malls in Mumbai at regular inervals," said a police inspector from Khar police station.u00a0u00a0

However, a source opined, "We received information about a possible threat and a team was checking the entire place. But it was just a rumour."

A similar mock drill conducted at K Star Mall in Chembur earlier created confusion among citizens. The drill comprised over 300 police personnel wearing bulletproof jackets and were armed with AK-47s.
