Metro services in Mumbai were affected during peak hours on Monday evening due to a technical snag that left thousands of commuters stranded
Peak-hour commuters using the metro services in Mumbai were severely inconvenienced for some time after a technical snag affected services on Monday evening.
The services on the 11.04-km Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar (VAG) metro corridor were disrupted between Saki Naka and Ghatkopar due to the glitch at around 6.30 pm.

Since the services were disrupted during the evening peak hour, large crowds were seen at some of the stations.
Normal services resumed after approximately half-hour.
MMOPL response
Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL), which is operating the corridor, said in a release that a standby train was inducted into the system to make up for the delay. They claimed that tjhere was only a delay of 3 minutes due to the glitch.
"At 6:30 PM, due to technical problem in one of the trains, there was a delay of 3 minutes in the services of Mumbai Metro. Standby train was inducted into the system to make up for the delay," MMOPL said.
It added, "Mumbai Metro has an on time performance of 99.99% since inception."
