MMRDA to gift a state-of-the-art seven-storied hospital with a capacity of 300 beds, a maternity ward and a high-tech operation theatre to Mankhurd
Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is all set to gift a state-of-the-art hospital with a capacity of 300 beds, a maternity ward and a high-tech operation theatre across seven floors to Mankhurd. The basement and four floors have already been completed of the under-construction hospital which is expected to be completed by May 2015.
The hospital is located in the Lallubhai compound campus in Mankhurd near an MMRDA Resettlement and Rehabilitation Colony. "Since this area had a requirement of a hospital, the Metropolitan Commissioner decided to construct one in the vicinity. The decision to construct a hospital was taken in 2013 and the construction commenced around June 2013," said Anil Wankhede, Deputy Metropolitan Commissioner (Lands & Estate), MMRDA.
"MMRDA has already constructed and handed over a police station to the Mumbai Police in Mankhurd. The authority is committed to the overall development of Mankhurd. We are happy that by May 2015 the hospital will be functioning. Of course, once completed, it will be handed over to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The hospital will definitely be of great help to the residents of Mankhurd and other Mumbaikars," said Dilip Kawathkar, Joint Project Director, MMRDA.
