Mumbai: To ensure that law and order issues do not affect investment prospects in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today ordered to set up police stations in large MIDC areas in state.
"Chief Minister has asked for co-ordination between police, industries and Labour department and called for a strict action against those creating hurdles for smooth functioning of industries," a senior official in the Chief Minister's Office said.
Fadnavis said complaints regarding harassment by industries should be looked into and steps should be taken to ensure prevention of any untoward incidents which will see investments from the state shift elsewhere.
"Chief Minister has directed concerned authorities that those creating hurdles in smooth functioning of industries should be identified and strict action should be taken against the unscrupulous elements," the official said. "A committee headed by Superintendent of Police will take periodic meetings to review the law and order situation in MIDC areas and take steps to resolve problems if any.
"Similarly, the CM also issued directives that in large MIDC areas, steps should be taken to set up a police station and a security audit for that area should be done," the official added.
Fadnavis, who also holds Home portfolio, issued the directives at a meeting to discuss law and order issues in Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) units.
