A mole on his right shoulder was the undoing of a criminal who had been on the run from the police for the last 24 years. Narayan Naidu, wanted for a case of a stabbing in 1990, had been arrested by the cops in 1994, but had fled.
A resident of BDD chawl, Naidu had been changing his address since 1994. "We had his picture when he was 26. Now, he could be around 50, so it was more difficult for us," said Additional Commissioner of Police, (Central Region), Madhukar Pandey.
However, Constable Shamrao Jagdale from the Bhoiwada police station, learnt that Naidu had been living in Nigdi, Pune. When he was found, they asked him to remove his shirt. "We found a mole on his right shoulder, which was present in the description of the accused in 1994," said SI Sunil Tondwalkar of Bhoiwada police station.
