The Rs 35-lakh toilet has 28 urinals and four flush toilets facilities in the gents' section, and four flush toilets for women.

It has separate facilities for the differently-abled, too. This is the first toilet, on rail premises, to charge people R1 for using urinals and Rs 5 for flush toilets.

Thane station sees a daily average footfall of seven lakh people and presently has three other toilet blocks.

The toilet will be maintained by a private operator who has advertising rights to earn revenue.

CR authorities will construct more such deluxe AC toilets at other stations depending on the demand.
