First merit list of FYJC online admissions to Mumbai colleges declared

The much-awaited first merit list of the First Year Junior College (FYJC) online admissions in Mumbai was declared on Monday with a total of 1,84,977 candidates being allotted seats


The much-awaited first merit list of the First Year Junior College (FYJC) online admissions in Mumbai was declared on Monday.

A total of 1,84,977 candidates have been allotted seats in the first merit list out of 2,22,622 students who applied.

With marks increasing every year, the competition to get a seat in junior colleges is getting tougher. Several popular Mumbai colleges have seen cut-offs above 90 percent in the first merit list. Colleges feel that it is marginal increase from the last academic year.

It is expected that seats at most popular city colleges will be filled by the second merit list.

A total of 47,648 candidates were allotted colleges of their first choice, 22,348 candidates were allotted their second choice college and 16,007 applicants got their third preferred college. Students can confirm admission on allotted seats with Rs 50 or if they want to wait for betterment option in the subsequent list.

Dr. Tushar Joshi, principal of the D G Ruparel College, said, "There is marginal increase in the cut-off compared to last year. More or less the competition remains same, rather on the upward side. By the second list the seats in popular colleges will be filled."

Dr. Manju Nichani, principal of K C College, said, "The competition is certainly getting tougher each year. By the second list there will be clear picture."
