A major fire broke out in a commercial building in Kabutarkhana, Dadar around 11 pm on Friday night. It was soon brought under control and no casualty was reported.
The fire brigade got a call for a fire in Dadar's Om Gopal shopping complex at 11.28 pm on Friday night following which eight fire engines and six water tankers were sent on the spot. The building is a seven-storeyed commercial building, and the fire broke out on its second floor. It originated in one shop and soon spread to other two shops. Since the building was empty, there was no casualty and the fire was confined to garments, electric wires, installations, raw material, computers, furniture, loft etc. Four water hoses and 16 breathing apparatuses were used.
According to chief fire officer P S Rahangdale, "The fixed fire fighting system in the building was not in working condition. Therefore, the water and electric supply to the concerned building has been severed until the fire fighting equipments are put in place."
