A collision between two vehicles on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway resulted in a fire as police reached the spot to control the situation. According to initial reports, a car collided with a state transport bus near Varai Fata on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway that led to a fire.
Two people including the driver of eco-car identified as Prabhat Liladhar Barad (57) and his relative Hitesh Barad died in the alleged incident. According to the Manor police station, the accident occurred on Thursday afternoon when the eco-car was coming towards Mumbai while the bus was going towards Gujarat on Mumbai Ahmadabad Highway.
The bus driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle and collided with the eco-car from the front crossing the divider on the other side of the road. Due to the impact, the eco-car-driver and his relative got stuck in the car. Meanwhile, the car caught fire, and the driver and his relative were unable to come out as they got stuck in the car. Both died in the car due to scorching fire, said an official from Manor police station.
