The majestic Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL) that promises a smooth ride in just seven minutes is a nightmare for motorists on Sundays.

According to Maharashtra State Road Development (MSRDC) officials, the BWSL attracts approximately 33,000 vehicles on Sundays compared to 27,000 cars on weekdays.

TRAFFIC JAM: Around 33,000 vehicles ply on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link on Sundays compared to 27,000 on weekdays.

An MSRDC official said, "People drive on the BWSL at their own pace on Sundays."

Tripti Narula, a resident of Worli, agreed. "Last Sunday, I decided to take the Sea Link since I was running late for a movie. But it took me 45 minutes to cross the bridge," said Narula.

Amar Chouwdhary said, "I was shocked to see the number of vehicles on the Sea Link on Sunday. But I enjoyed my drive since I don't get to stop on BWSL on other days."

Jayant Mhaiskar, managing director, Mumbai Entry Point Ltd, said, "The traffic jam on the BWSL is because people from the suburbs come to the Worli seaface on Sundays.
