Director arrested for molesting Bhojpuri actress

The Versova police arrested Saif Khan, an assistant director ofBhojpuri films, late Friday night for allegedly molesting a Bhojpuri actress, Reema Sinha (name changed to protect privacy). Khan had called the actress for an audition after which he allegedly misbehaved with her and touched her inappropriately. The artiste fled from the spot and later filed a complaint with the Versova police.

After the incident Khan was on run. But the cops got a tip off that he would be coming to a rented flat at Yari Road for some purpose after which they laid a trap. He was arrested the moment he entered the building.

On December 13, MiD DAY had reported the story od the director molesting a Bhojpuri actress. Khan has assisted few directors in Bhojpuri films. He had called Sinha on the pretext of an audition at the Yari Road flat.

Initially, she asked about the film's script and her co-stars, but Khan refused to answer her queries. He later started talking about her physical characteristics. When Sinha persisted that the discussion be restricted to the project, Khan used uncouth language with her and asked her to shed her clothes. When she refused and tried to escape, he pushed her onto his bed and forced himself upon her. Sinha fled and then contacted the cops.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) S Dhanedar of Versova police station said, "Khan has been arrested under Sections 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code.
