But eyewitness Santosh Gholap alias Sunny, whose brother run a hotel in Dana Paani area claims witnessing the incident and is ready to testify the same before anybody.

According to Gholap he witnessed the four young cadets in the age group of 23 to 25 years in drunken state loitering near the beach on Saturday evening.

Gholap claims that he suspected that the boys were upto some mischief and alerted his police constable friend attached to Malwani police station and he continued to keep an eye on the boys along with his hotel staff.u00a0

As it was becoming darker, Gholap alleged that he witnessed the boys harassing a couple and saw them being dragged by them into the nearby jungle area, luckily by then the beat marshal arrived and the spot.

Gholap claims that he along with the police nabbed the four men and escorted the couple to Malwani police station, the couple complained that the men robbed them of Rs 2000.

The victim was identified as Fatima a resident of Malwani and her paramour Sanjay. Gholap allege that he was asked by a police officer to leave the place and that they would register the case.

Gholap claims he returned after a while and was surprised to spot Naval police jeeps outside the police stations. Fatima who was leaving the police station by then, informed Gholap that the police returned the stolen money and asked the couple to leave without registering any case.

When contacted Senior Inspector J K Hargude denied of any such incident. "I have checked with my police station and found that no such incident happened nor we received any complaint."

Defense Spokesperson Captain Manohar Nambiar too rebuffed the allegation saying, "I checked with the naval base in question and they have refuted involvement of any Naval staff in any unruly act."

When informed Gholap he said, "I have spotted the Naval officials at police station and they (boys) were released. I am a witness to the entire incident and can testify before police or any other authority."
