About 60,000 junior college teachers have written a letter to the Board from across the state, confirming their participation in the boycott of the HSC examinations
After the state's cabinet meeting on Wednesday at the state guesthouse ignored the demands made by the Maharashtra Federation of Junior College Teachers' Organisation (MFJCTO), the teachers strengthened their resolve to boycott the oral state board examination of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), starting from February 3. The education minister, however, seems unperturbed and has assured that the exams will commence smoothly.

MFJCTO will be conducting their meeting today, and has called teachers' representatives from across the state. Meanwhile, about 60,000 junior college teachers have written a letter to the Board from across the state, confirming their participation in the boycott of the HSC examinations.
Anil Deshmukh, general secretary of MFJCTO, said, "We were promised that our demands would be discussed during the cabinet meeting, which did not happen. This has firmed our resolve to boycott the exams. We have called the meeting of teachers' representatives to decide on the further course of action. Our boycott starts on February 3, and the next cabinet meeting is on February 5."
Speaking to MiD DAY, School Education Minister Rajendra Darda seemed unaware of the MFJCTO's resolve. He explained, "My job is to ensure that the exams are carried out smoothly, which I'm confident about. The government has already approved their demand of counting unaided service of teachers for senior scale and selection grade.
I have put the remaining issues in front of the government and am trying to get them approved as well, which will take some time. The teachers are positive as well, and will not let the students suffer."
