Customs seize 5 kg of gold

On Saturday, customs officials seized 5 kg of gold from a passenger, who had kept the gold in a belt hidden inside his pants


According to customs officials, the passenger Iliyas Ismail Museji Bhana arrived at Mumbai International Airport from Dubai by Jet airways on Saturday.u00a0

After clearing the green channel, Bhana was intercepted by Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Dhairyashil Kanse.

During the personal search, a white- coloured waist belt was found tied below the abdominal region inside Iliyas's pants. He was asked to remove the belt.

On examination, customs officials found five gold bars each weighing one kg in a special pocket inside the belt. The gold was valued at around Rs 1.56 crore.

The passenger has been arrested for smuggling gold. u00a0 u00a0u00a0
