After a search of three months, the Oshiwara police has managed to trace a missing young woman who is a model by profession and arrested her kidnapper.

What the sleuths did not know while they were arresting the accused, Mandhatta Singh (33), was that he had left a trail of at least 40 criminal cases across the country, and was wanted by the police in many cities. The Jaipur police had, in fact, declared a bounty of Rs 11 lakh on the absconding accused. Even the CBI had been on the hunt for him.

In the case lodged with the Oshiwara police, a woman from Lokhandwala had approached the cops in February and registered a missing complaint about her 19-year-old daughter, a model.

The police officers began tracking the girl's mobile number, and a few days ago, traced its location in Delhi. They contacted the Delhi police on April 25 and asked them to work on the location but the cops did not find anything.

On April 30, a team of Oshiwara police went to Delhi to carry out the investigations and found the victim staying in a flat along with the accused Singh. The investigators detained him and brought him and the girl to Mumbai.

When they asked her how she had landed in Delhi, she told them that she knew Singh through a social networking site and later met up with him in Andheri (W). "The accused then kidnapped the girl and took her to Delhi. He threatened that he would circulate obscene pictures of her on the Internet if she did not agree

to go with him," said Inspector Ravindra Patil of Oshiwara police station. In Delhi, the girl said, she shared a room with another young woman whom Singh had kidnapped.

"Before going to Delhi, Singh had taken the girl to Pune, Nashik, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Punjab and made her meet several men for coffee dates which were fixed on the Internet. For each date and outing with the girl, Singh used to charge his clients Rs 2,500-5,000 for an hour," said a police officer from the Oshiwara police station.

Based on the girl's statement and complaint, the police booked Singh for kidnapping, rape, threatening and molestation. He was produced in court and remanded in police custody till Monday.

While interrogating him the police on Wednesday found out that Singh has about 40 cases lodged against him from robbery, kidnapping, cheating, attempt to murder in cities like Jaipur, Delhi, Bangalore and others. Singh has confessed that the CBI has been hot on his trail in a Rs 6 crore cheating case in Navi Mumbai, cops said.
