Vakola police on the lookout for a suspended asst police inspector who has been absconding since a customer of his vet shop filed a case against him for stealing her canine
Au00a0suspended assistant police inspector, who was earlier posted at Vakola police station, has been charged with stealing a woman's dog.

The incident came to light on Saturday when Durga Utekar, a resident of Kalina, filed a case against API Tushar Kadam for stealing her dog. In her complaint, Utekar alleged that that she had approached Kadam, now an owner of a pet shop by the name Paws and Furs at CST, requesting him to take care of his pet Labradoru00a0 called Tyson. "I was going on a vacation for a week with my entire family, and we wanted someone to take care of my dog. So, I approached Kadam and asked him to mind Tyson," said Utekar.
On December 7, Utekar handed over the responsibility of the canine to Kadam. Utekar alleged that on the very same day, Kadam sold the dog to someone. And when she returned from her vacation, he told her that the dog had run away.u00a0
A distraught Utekar told MiD DAY that her efforts to look for Tyson were futile. "We put up posters of him at various places but to no avail. I am depressed. Tyson was a part of my family, he was my child."
Utekar added that the dog was still to be found and that she was praying that she would find her beloved canine.u00a0
The Kalina police have filed a case against the suspendedu00a0 officer and his shop worker Mangesh Sakpal under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. Authorities arrested Sakpal and produced him in court, which remanded him to police custody till Tuesday. Meanwhile, Kadam has been absconding since the day of the crime.
