The National Entrance and Eligibility Test (NEET) for medical course admissions continues to be a troubled affair

The National Entrance and Eligibility Test (NEET) for medical course admissions continues to be a troubled affair. As the answer key for NEET phase II was declared, questions were raised about three answers that, according to students and teachers, are incorrect. These are question numbers 78, 179 and 146.

As per the Supreme Court instructions, NEET phase II was conducted on July 24 across the country. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the answer key of the test last week on August 4. As the key was declared, students started reviewing their answers. There were four sets of question papers in total. Students and teachers are complaining of errors found in answers from question paper set - RR.

"Answers given to these questions are completely wrong. We have verified them with teachers. We have to challenge the errors and demand a review, else all students who have answered correctly will suffer negative marking, because as per the answer key, their answer is incorrect," said M Rangwala, a worried parent.

Dr Keyur Cholera, a professor, said, "Few students are challenging it, as this will result in negative marking as per the evaluation pattern of NEET, where a student loses two marks for an incorrect answer." Swati Patil, another parent, echoed, "The loss of marks due to an erroneous answer key can be dangerous."

Sanyam Bharadwaj from the Board said, "There is a transparent process. Answer key is put up in public so that those who have issues with it can challenge the answers. The cases will then be put in front of our experts who will decide if the answer key needs to be changed."
