With June 17 being the day the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) would arrive to evict them from their homes, residents of the disputed flats in the Campa Cola society in Worli have now activated a special phone line to garner support for their cause. Anyone can give a missed call on the number to side with the residents' cause.

Nearly 1,000 people have called the phone number to show their support, say residents. File pic

Along with the phone number (080-30636046), which was activated on Saturday, inhabitants have also taken the ‘Save Campa Cola' campaign to Facebook (www.facebook/com/savecampacola), Twitter (@savecampacola) and WhatsApp in a bid to prevent their homes from being razed.

Residents say that, through their case, they wish to inform and raise awareness about other victims of the builder-government nexus. Karan Sethia, a resident of Patel Apartments, said, "This is a cause to fight against irregularities of builders and BMC officials. We are getting support from many people, which might hopefully save our homes."

Added Sunanda Verma from Midtown Apartments, "This is not just in interest of Campa Cola. It might also help others who are victims of the builders' nexus." Around 1,000 people have dialled the number till now, said Sethia.

The affected homeowners plan to accumulate as much support as possible and show the numbers to the BMC and the CM, in order to show that people "think of them as victims and back their cause."
