The 14-year-old's bluff was caught when his father took him to the police station and asked them to check the CCTV footage of the area where the boy said he was kidnapped. When the student, who lives in Borivali did not reach home on time, his family started looking for him. After about 1pm the boy was spotted near the compound near a bank - about 200 meters away from his school. The boy said that the men had kidnapped him from his school and brought him to the spot. The boy's father then took him to the Kasturba Marg police station and asked the cops to look into the matter.
On analyzing the CCTV footage from the area, the police caught the boy's lie when they saw him walking from the school to the bank on his own.
On being pressed for answers the boy admitted that he had made up the ruse as he was upset with his performance at his tution class. He also added that his parents had not reprimanded him for his academic performance.
