The Borivali railway police have denied newspaper reports that they will be pushing passengers inside the train compartments during rush hour.
The reports appeared after services on Western Railway got disrupted on February 4 for more than four hours when a Churchgate bound local (9.10 am) from Borivli got cancelled.
According to S R Gaikwad, senior police officer Borivali Railway police, cops posted at the railway station will remove unruly passengers from the doors who block the passage.
"We will move such people away from the passages, as they block the entry of other passengers getting inside the train compartment. We will also book the offenders and see to it that these passengers are discouraged," said Gaikwad.
During the Borivali incident, the railway police had registered a FIR against 13 men and 19 women protestors and put them behind bars. These people were booked under Section 143, 145, 147, 353 and 425 of Railway Act for disrupting rail services, stopping government employees from doing their job and damaging property.
The mob rage resulted in damage of four metal detectors, which cost around Rs 10,000 each, said police officials.
