The Bombay High Court has ordered the Income Tax (I-T) department pay Dr Gautam Sen, a reputed Mumbai doctor a fine of Rs 20,000 for a wrongful search conducted in 1999. According to a report by The Times of India, the search was conducted on the doctor's premises on January 16th of the aforementioned year where a sum of Rs 20,000 was found.

The search conducted by the I-T department was a result of a search operation on Concept Communication Group of Companies on January 6, 1999, belonging to Nirmal Suchanti. Officials stumbled across a bank account in the name of Pioneer Publicity, of which one Gautam Sen was shown as proprietor.

The HC that the findings are nothing incriminating and that the action against the doctor could just be a case of mistaken identity.
