Wants the MSRDC to allow a marriage procession on an open BEST bus on the Bandra Worli Sea Link
Manish Makkad (35), a businessman from Vashi, wants a baraat procession with a difference for his NRI cousin Tarun Makkad (25) from the UK, who weds Mumbai girl Anita Bhatia on December 27.
Makkad plans to seek the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Ltd's (MSRDC) permission to ride at the head of the baarat from Bandra to Worli on the Bandra Worli Sea Link (BWSL) on an open BEST bus.
"I am planning it as a gift for my cousin Tarun and his wife-to-be Anita. Initially, we had plans to hire helicopters for his wedding.

We gave up the idea and decided instead to cross the BWSL on an open BEST bus on the big day. We will dance at the Bandra end for some time and then take the bus to Worli.
I am not sure if I will get the necessary permissions though. I have read that Formula 1 and organisers of the Mumbai Marathon were denied access to the BWSL," added Makkad.
Girish Thappar of A2Z wedding organisers, said, many clients have asked if they could celebrate birthdays on an open BEST bus at the BWSL.
"I have discouraged such requests because the process for seeking necessary permissions is extremely time consuming and it is not even certain if the permissions will come through," said Thappar.
