It has been nine years since the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) gave its approval for the development of a plot at Janta Nagar, Tardeo for a much-needed school in the area. While the construction of the five-storey building was completed in 2009, the school is yet to open for kids, and it seems that the painting work is still on.

Recently, the MLA of the area, Mangalprabhat Lodha, pointed out the neglected property to the municipal commissioner, asking him to conduct an inquiry about the building. However, the civic body is yet to decide on an action or penalty to be levied on the contractor.

As a part of a redevelopment plan, the construction of the school was approved on July 1996 and the commencement certificate was given in 2005 by the then municipal commissioner. While the structure came up around five years back, the school is yet to be opened. According to sources, the commissioner has asked the education board to conduct a detailed inquiry about the delay.
