Files FIR against film distributors for defacing murals with movie posters
The BMC has taken prompt action against the film distributors, who on Monday, stuck their movie posters on the artwork that was part of the city beautification project along Senapati Bapat Marg.
The civic body filed an FIR at the N M Joshi Marg police station yesterday.
S Y Gadkari, assistant commissioner for G (south) ward, said the promoters had not taken permission to stick the posters.
"We have filed a case of defacement of public property under section 328 of the BMC Act and issued a show cause notice. It was disappointing to see the artwork spoilt within a day.
The painters have a sense of ownership with the work and they were obviously angry."
On Monday, artists and citizens took to cyberspace to protest the film posters pasted over their
artwork.
